We have various options at our House. All of them are alluring and they have all been tested. Of course, you have a say in what suits you best, but we will also give our opinion. We want to make decisions together with you.
Registration
Your first step is your registration. You can do this via our website. You enter your data and mention briefly what it is you want help with. You can also add the letter of referral from your GP. You will then receive a link to activate your portal. We can communicate in a secure way through that portal. You will also receive an additional questionnaire, as well as the option to schedule an introductory on-line video call meeting. These two steps are required to evaluate - together with you - whether the Huis voor Schematherapie is the right fit for you. If that is the case, we will schedule a face-to-face meeting.
Introduction meeting
After the introduction meeting, we will initiate a more in-depth meeting to get better acquainted with each other and with schema therapy. We will create an overview with you about your complaints and how they connect to persistent patterns. We will also look into your strong points and the things you wish to change. Also, you will have a few schema therapy experiences, so that you know what you are choosing. During the third meeting, we will match a diagnosis and a treatment plan to your story. That way, you will have a general idea of what you are dealing with. We will also make an estimate of the number of sessions you would need and what it would cost, so you can decide whether you want to go through with it. If you agree to it, we will set up a treatment agreement and carry on down this road.
From your mind, into your body
You can choose this approach after the introduction if you have had therapy before, for example. You have an idea of how your patterns work, but you’re stuck at ‘I am afraid to’, or ‘it’s all so difficult’. You have a specific aim to change your own behaviour. For example, you know what you like and what you want, but you’re afraid to say it out loud because you don’t want to be a nuisance. Together with your group members, who are in the same position, you will learn to feel and dare increasingly more, through assignments and training. This involves only a limited number of sessions, because we aim to stimulate you to stand on your own two feet as much as possible.
Across the line
Following the introduction, this package enables you to conquer your avoidance, compulsions or dependency within 18 months. During the first phase, you will get to know your patterns and their deep origins. Next, you will be called out more and more to put yourself in a vulnerable position. That way, you can gain experience that will enable you to get what you need. The final phase consists of translating this into your daily life, and of finding ways to lead a more satisfying life - with your own pitfalls. In this package, we combine group and individual therapies, which will be quite intense.
First aid in study stress / dealing with study stress
If you are mainly experiencing stress from your studies, something’s not right. Perhaps you are forcing yourself to keep achieving high results, or you are dealing with fear of failure. The number of students that are dealing with burn-out symptoms is alarming. So it’s time for a different approach! In our module ‘First aid in study stress’ you, along with a group of fellow students, will start to understand what it actually is that give you this stress.
